The new one is the configurator. Tesla raised US Cybertruck prices $5,000 on the two dual-motor trims. Dual Motor is $74,990. Premium AWD is $84,990. Cyberbeast stays $99,990. Not a Tesla App and the site both have it. Tesla did not explain, and the spec sheet did not change. The same truck that sat at $59,990 for a few days in February is now $15,000 higher. That is a price move, not a discontinuation. Don't read it as one.
Tesla also put a date on the Semi factory. Invite-only Semi Rollout, 24 September, Sparks, Nevada. Tours and ride-alongs. RSVP by 2 September. 21 and over. Cybercab is still 3 September, Austin. Contest notify day was yesterday US time. Tesla has not named the five winners in public. Email only, 24 hours to reply. Still the launch event, not a confirmed start of paying public Cybercab rides.

The overnight move is on the brake rule, not Cybercab itself. AVIA (Jeff Farrah) posted a revised/expanded supplement to its earlier FMVSS 135 comment on docket NHTSA-2026-0728 (comment 0070, posted 25 Aug). It supports dropping pedal and parking-brake controls for ADS-only vehicles, keeping stopping-distance tests, and an immediate effective date. It also asks NHTSA not to auto-fold regenerative braking into the service-brake definition (S5.1.3), to define “service brake control” as a component or subsystem, to keep telltales performance-based, and for an FMVSS 105 analog on heavy-duty. Docket is now at 66 comments. The window is still open through 26 Aug 23:59 ET. No final rule, SNPRM, or further extension. Cybercab story is unchanged: Tesla’s Austin launch event is still 3 Sep. Sweepstakes winners were due by email 25 Aug US and have not been named in public. Invitees RSVP by 11:59pm PT on 30 Aug. Cybercab still is not carrying the public. Nevada is unchanged from the 20 Aug NTA vote: up to 5,000 in Clark County over 12 months, commercial still pending inspections, insurance, and fares. Tesla has been sending Exclusive Access invitations for a Cybercab launch event on 3 September 2026 in Austin. Teslarati and Not a Tesla App both have the date. The Robotaxi-ride sweepstakes closed 23 August. Tesla’s terms say five winners are notified by email on 25 August US, with 24 hours to reply. No names yet as of 6:54am Melbourne (late Tuesday afternoon US). Invitees RSVP by 30 August, 11:59pm Pacific. tesla.com/robotaxi is still Model Y only.
Why it matters: this is a firm public date on purpose-built Cybercab hardware. It is an invite-only launch event. Tesla has not confirmed paying public Cybercab rides start that day.
